THRACE. Maroneia. Circa 189/8-49/5 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29.5 mm, 14.30 g, 12 h). Head of youthful Dionysos to right, wearing ivy wreath. Rev. ΔΙΟΝΥΣΟΥ / ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ / ΜΑΡΩΝΙΤΩΝ Dionysos, nude but for chlamys draped over his left arm, standing left, holding grape bunch in right hand, two narthex stalks in his left; flanking his feet, two monograms. HGC 3.2, 1556. Schönert-Geiss 1202 (V64/R206). Attractively toned and with an obverse in high relief. Die-break in obverse field, otherwise, very fine.
