Description

Constantine IX Monomachus, 1042-1055. Tetarteron (Gold, 18 mm, 4.10 g, 6 h), Constantinople. +IhC XIC RCX RCGNΛNTIhm Bust of Christ Pantokrator facing, with cross nimbus having a pellet in each arms, his right hand raised in benediction within his cloak and, with his open left hand, holding book of Gospels. Rev. +CωnSTAnT bASILE Crowned facing bust of Constantine IX, wearing jeweled chlamys with pearl collar, and holding a labarum-tipped scepter in his right hand and a globus cruciger in his left. DOC 6. SB 1833. Sharply struck and clear. Minor flan faults, otherwise, good extremely fine.
