Cyprus
Amathus. Wroikos (?), circa 460-450 BC. Stater (Silver, 28 mm, 11.27 g, 5 h). Lion reclining to right. Rev. Forepart of roaring lion to right; all inside a square frame of pearls within an incuse square. Amandry, Amathonte 125, A (D1/- unrecorded reverse die). BMC 1 and pl. I,1. (same obverse die). Very rare. With a spectacularly dramatic and powerful reverse. Struck from a worn and broken obverse die, as usual, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

From a German collection, formed in the early 2000s.
