Dynasts of Lycia
Tenegure, circa 460-420 BC. Stater (20 mm, 8.56 g). Winged and horned lion-griffin (?) crouching to right. Rev. Triskeles with monogram above; all in a circle of pearls, within a shallow, circular incuse. Müseler IV, 89 (this coin). SNG von Aulock 4124 (this coin). Very rare. Very nicely toned and with an intriguing obverse type. Minor flan and striking faults, otherwise, about extremely fine.
From a European collection, ex Peus 268, 25 April 2001, 218 and Leu Numismatics 77, 11 May 2000, 348 and from the Gillet Collection (1153), acquired no later than the early 1960s.
