Head of Athena to right, wearing crestless Corinthian helmet and with almond-shaped frontal eye. Asyut 238 (this coin). BCD Akarnania -. BMC 1-2. Calciati. A very rare early issue. Toned as found. From an American collection, ex Empire Coins 4, 9 November 1985, 87, and from the Asyut Hoard of 1969.This coin has been submitted to NGC: it received the grade "XF" and the certification number 2490354-004. This is actually one of the very earliest coins of Leukas; it is particularly exciting to know that soon after it was struck it had already left western Greece and had traveled far to the south, probably to be used to pay for rare products from the Valley of the Nile.
