Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.25 g, 8 h), struck posthumously, Amphipolis, c. 294-290. Head of youthful Herakles in lion's skin headdress to right. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔ ΡΟΥ Zeus seated to left on throne, holding eagle on his outstretched right hand and long scepter in his left; in field to left, horizontal thunderbolt over Ζ; below throne, monogram of MΕ. Price 502. Attractive, clear and struck in high relief. Extremely fine.
