Calabria
Tarentum. Circa 333-331/0 BC. Diobol (Silver, 13 mm, 1.14 g, 4 h), period of Alexander the Molossian, King of Epeiros, 350-330 BC. Head of Helios facing, on radiate disc, turned slightly to the left. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ / ΤΟΥ ΝΕΟΠΤ[ΟΛΕΜΟΥ] Thunderbolt. De Luynes 1892 (same obverse die). Cf. Fischer-Bossert G3. Cf. HN III 906. Vlasto 1864–5. Vlasto, Alexander, Type 6A, pl.ix, 10. Rare. Bright and attractive. Minor marks, otherwise, about extremely fine.
