Description
LUCANIA. Herakleia. Circa 420/15-390 BC. Nomos (Silver, 22 mm, 7.34 g, 1 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Athenian helmet adorned with hippocamp with curled wing. Rev. HPAKΛEIΩN Herakles grappling with the Nemean lion; to left, at Herakles' feet, bow and club; between Herakles's legs, Φ. HN III 1372. SNG ANS 52 (same dies). Work 17. Scarce type. Good fine.
