The absence of the portraits of Leo III, Constantine V and Leo IV indicates that the seal was issued after Council of Nikaia, which took place in September/October 787 AD.
A full reading of the seal is possible due to the existence of a better-preserved specimen —No 277 Zacos, Veglery. This seal is of significant historical importance. (23mm, 12.6 g)
