★ First known example ★
Ionia, Chios 4th Century BC. AE (14mm, 2.9 g). Sphinx standing left at obverse. Vine-wreaths encircling two bands placed crosswise on reverse. ΕΓΕΣ letters horizontally laying down and ΧΙωΝ upright. Unpublished specimen,probably unique. Nearly very fine.
