Archbishop Johann Jakob Khuen von Belasi is well known for his great building program. It is less known that he was also greatly interested in coinage. The gold multiples presented to high dignitaries were a good medium to represent him as a generous art supporter. In 1565, the building of a new mint located at the “Alte Kirchgasse bei der Pfarr” began. The new building contained also an apartment for the mint master.
