Description

Ulrich-Bansa, O. Moneta Mediolanensis (352–498). Venezia; Officine Grafiche C. Ferrari, 1949. 8vo., pp. 1 plate as frontispiece, xiii, (1), 452; 28 superb plates held in a pocket at the end, 2 tables, 1 folding, 1 folding map. Bound in later blue cloth and marbled boards, gilt. Worn, the boards detached but the contents mostly clean and with the author’s inscription to Mario Ratto on the first free endpaper. Seldom offered.
‘Esemplare L’ of a limited edition of 250 copies. Clain-Stefanelli 4395. Grierson p. 81. Kroh p. 92, “It is a corpus of the issues of the Milan mint (only) in the waning days of the Roman Empire. This work is extremely useful due to the many hypothesis that Ulrich-Bansa proposed about the coinage, many of which have been confirmed by the passage of time.”
