Description

Mionnet, T. E. De la rareté et du prix des médailles romaines, ou receuil contenant les types rares et inédits des médailles d’or, d’argent et de bronze, frappées pendant la durée de la république et de l’empire romain. Troisième édition. Paris; Rollin, 1847. Complete in two volumes. 8vo., pp. engraved frontispiece, (4), xxiv, 420; (4), 571, (1) pages; 38 finely engraved plates of coins. Bound in quarter morocco and marbled boards, raised bands with red and green labels to the spines, lettered in gilt. A little worn, with some chips to the spine of the second volume, the contents a little dusty with some foxing, a previous library stamp on the title page of the first volume, very good overall. (2)
The first edition of this price guide to Roman coins was published in one volume in 1815, followed by a second expanded edition with engraved plates in 1827. A final reprint of the third 1847 edition, not cited by Leitzman was published by Auguste Aubry in 1858. Babelon pp. 132–36. Leitzmann p. 91.
