Description

Cohen, H. Description historique des monnaies frappées sous l’empire Romain communément appelées médailles impériales. Paris/London; Rollin & Feuardent, 1880–1892. Deuxième édition. Complete in eight volumes. 8vo., pp. xxvii, (i), 544; xvi, 446, (2); (4), 426, (2); (4), 532, (2); (4), 545, (3); (4), 570, (2); (4), 496; (4), 510, (4), fine line illustrations throughout. Uniformly bound in half vellum and black cloth boards, red and black title labels to the spines, lettered and decorated in gilt, marbled endpapers throughout. The bindings worn and soiled, many of the joints cracked with some boards coming loose and those of the last volume detached, the contents mostly clean but many pages also loose. A well used set of the much preferred but seldom offered, second edition of this invaluable work, certainly worthy of rebinding. (8)
Babelon p. 147. Clain-Stefanelli 4015*. Grierson p. 74.
