Description

Lederer, P. Die Tetradrachmenprägung von Segesta. Munich; A. Buchholz, 1910. 4to., pp. (4), 54; 1 fine plate. Bound in red quarter cloth and marbled boards with the original printed wrappers preserved. Red morocco title label to the spine, gilt, marbled endpapers. Dusty at extremities but the contents clean. A very good copy of this rarely offered work.
The author’s doctoral dissertation and the work for which he is now most widely known. Dr Philipp Lederer trained in classical archaeology and philosophy and was a relative of Jacob Hirsch. Based in Berlin, he not only authored numerous articles on numismatics but also dealt in antiquities with a clientele which included Sigmund Freud. Clain-Stefanelli 2252. Daehn 3071.
