Balbinus has one very distinct portrait type and deviations are rare. The artistic quality of his portraits does differ considerably during those troublesome days, making it worth looking for really good specimens. AMP. Denarius 238, AR 3.05 g. Bold portrait struck on a very large flan. Virtually as struck An exceptionally sharp and very well executed portrait of Balbinus. AMP.
