Description

Greek Coins Syracuse Tetradrachm circa 405-395, AR 17.25 g. Fast quadriga driven l. by chiton -clad clad charioteer, holding kentron and reins; above, Nike flying r. to crown him. In exergue, dolphin l. Rev. [ΣΥ – ΡAKO – ΣI – ΩN] Head of Arethusa l., hair bound with sphendone over which several tresses fly back. Around, four dolphins: two swimming l. downwards and two r., upwards. SNG ANS 299 (these dies). Dewing 859 (these dies). Tudeer 98.
