Trajan augustus, 98 – 117

Aureus circa 112-114, AV 20 mm, 7.14 g. IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P COS VI P P Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust r. Rev. Triumphal gateway to Trajan's Forum, with six columns, sculptural reliefs, and attic statuary consisting of a chariot drawn by six horses flanked by two figures standing to either side of trophy. In exergue, FORVM TRAIAN. C 168 var. (not cuirassed). BMC 510 var. RIC 255. CBN 659 var. Woytek 403f. Calicó 1031.
Very rare. Minor edge marks, possibly traces of mounting, otherwise good very fine
