AN INTERESTING COLLECTION OF ROMAN REPUBLICAN COINS FORMED BY AN ENGLISH AMATEUR SCHOLAR
Quadrans, Sardinia after 211, Æ 5.70 g. Head of Hercules r., wearing lion’s skin; behind, three pellets. Rev. ROMA Prow r.; below, three pellets. Sydenham 143c. RBW 209. Cf. McCabe ”Anonymous Bronzes”, pp.169-171 type G3. Crawford 56/5.
Brown tone and very fine
The fine style of this coin, and the size of the devices, correspond closely with RBW 209 and with other McCabe type G3 quadrantes, despite its short flan and relatively light weight.
