Pseudo-Imperial Coinage . With blundered inscriptions. Tremissis circa 620-700, AV 1.47 g. IIIVNV – VIONVI Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust r. Rev. VPIOUVIVHOIIIVNVPVN Cross potent. BMC Vandals cf. 12. Arslan cf. 80-82. MEC I, –, cf. 314.
Very rare. Good extremely fine
Ex NAC Autumn 95 sale, 1995, 751.
This tremisses is much narrower and therefore thicker. The reverse bears a perfect example of a specular pseudo-epigraphic legend, which is a particular trait of Lombard coinage in the name of Maurice Tiberius.
