Pseudo-Imperial Coinage . In the name of Maurice Tiberius, 582-602. Tremissis circa 568-690, AV 1.37 g. DN MA(…) – TbPPVIG Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust r. Rev. IVIITORIIIIIITOLII Victory standing facing, holding globus cruciger in l. hand and wreath in r.; in exergue, COIIOI. BMC Vandals 23 (Agilulf). Arslan 18-19. MEC I, 305-306.
Rare. Good extremely fine
The letters of the legends validate that this coin is an imitation of Maurice Tiberius’ tremissis struck at the Ravenna mint. This type, with its larger flan, was resumed after the period of Cunipert.
