GREEK COINS
Macedonia, Acanthus
Tetradrachm circa 430-400, AR 17.04 g. Bull crouching to l., attacked by lion leaping on its back to r.; beneath, fish l. Rev. ΑΚΑ – Ν – ΘΙΟ – Ν around raised quadripartite square; all within incuse square. Desneux –, cf. for type D 99 / R 102. Roma Numismatics sale VI, 2013, 515 (these dies).
Very rare and in exceptional condition for the issue, undoubtedly among the finest
specimens known. A magnificent example perfectly struck and centred on a full
flan, light iridescent tone and good extremely fine
From a European private collection purchased before 2010.
