An alliance coinage was minted, with Wessex and Mercia striking the same coin types, Portrait Lunettes with Aelfred and Burgred, then Cross Lozenge and Two Emperor with Ceolwulf II The decisive victory at Edington brought the Treaty of Wedmore and creation of the Danelaw.
