Syracuse.
Tetradrachm circa 420, AR 17.23 g. Slow quadriga driven r. by charioteer holding reins and kentron; in field above, Nike flying l. to crown him. Rev. ΣYPAKO[ΣI] – O – N Head of Arethusa r., hair enclosed in ornamented saccos drawn together at top, wearing necklace and earring; on neck, A. Around, four dolphins swimming clockwise. SNG ANS 238 (these dies). Pozzi 595 (this coin). Boehringer 706.6 (this coin).
Rare and in unusually fine condition for this difficult issue. A portrait of fine
style and a light old cabinet tone, struck on a narrow flan,
otherwise good very fine / about extremely fine
