The Carthaginians in Sicily and North Africa.
Tetradrachm, uncertain mint in Sicily circa 320-300, AR 17.18 g. Head of Tanit (Kore-Persephone) l.; wearing barley-wreath, triple-pendant earring and necklace; around, four dolphins. Rev. Horse’s head l.; behind, palm-tree; below, ‘M in Punic character. de Luynes 1466 (these dies). SNG Lockett 1054 (these dies). Jenkins, Punic Sicily III, 242.
Struck in high relief and with a wonderful old cabinet tone.
Almost invisible marks, otherwise good extremely fine

From an Exceptional Collection assembled between the early 70s and late 90s.
