Description

Phocas, 23 November 602 – 5 October 610. Uncertain imitation in the name of Phocas (?). Solidus, uncertain mint in the east after 602, AV 4.57 g. N R I C I V' – C S C'I Draped and cuirassed bust facing, wearing crown surmounted by cross and holding globus cruciger. Rev. N S I [ ] – N O Y T' Angel standing facing holding long cross; in exergue, COH. Possibly unique; an interesting imitation of crude style on the type of Phocas. An insignificant mark in obverse field, otherwise good extremely fine Ex NAC sale 84, 2015, 1345.
