Segesta. Didrachm circa 412-400 or later, AR 8.33 g. Hound r., following scent; behind, three ears of barley with stalks and leaves; Σ - ΕΓΕΣΤΑZΙΒ between double exergual line. Rev. ΣΕΓΕΣΤΑZΙΒ Head of nymph Segesta r., wearing necklace with lion head pendant. SNG München 861 (these dies). Jameson 711 (these dies). Hurter 189f (this coin). Very rare. A lovely portrait and a light old cabinet tone, about extremely fine Ex Sternberg XX, 1988, 329 and New York Sale XXVII, 2012, Prospero, 154 sales.
