Calabria, Tarentum. Nomos circa 302-280, AR 7.71 g. Helmeted horseman l., holding shield and dismounting from horse; behind, YE(E retrograd) and, beneath horse, NIKΩΤΤ[AΣ]. Rev. TAPAΣ Dolphin rider r., holding trident and arrow; behind, ΛΥ and beneath, hippocampus r. Vlasto 699 (these dies). SNG ANS 1074 var. (EY). Historia Numorum Italy 968. Struck on a very broad flan and with a lovely old cabinet tone. Extremely fine From a private French collection.
