Description

Reccared II, 621. Ispali.   Tremissis circa 621, AV 1.434 g. (SG 15.40, Au 69.2%) + RECCΛREbVSRE Facing bust. Rev. +°ISPΛLIPIVS° Facing bust. Miles –. CNV 279. MEC I, –.
MV 334.2 (this coin illustrated, Bartlett 91).
Exceedingly rare, only two specimens known from the same die couple.
An unobtrusive metal flaw on obverse, otherwise extremely fine

Privately purchased from Jesus Vico.
This coin is the best proof that the coins are of Reccared II and not of Reccard I because the reverse die was used on coins of Suinthila. (See lot 974).
