Majorian, 457 – 461.   Solidus, Ravenna 457–461, AV 4.38 g. D N IVLIVS MAIORI – ANVS P F AVG Helmeted, diademed, draped and cuirassed bust r., holding spear pointing forwards and shield bearing Christogram. Rev. VICTORIΛ ΛΛVGGG Emperor standing facing, holding long cross in r. hand and Victory with wreath on globe in l.; foot on man-headed serpent; in field, R – V. In exergue, COMOB. Ranieri –. Lacam –. RIC 2624 (this reverse die).
An exceedingly rare variety, only two specimens known, of a very rare type. Minor
marks on cheek and areas of weakness on reverse, otherwise very fine
