Elderly Dionysus, wearing ivy wreath and himation, reclining on mule's back l., holding cantharus with r. hand and resting l. on the animal's side; before, bird on plant. Rev. ΜΕΝ – Δ – Α – Ι – Ο – Ν around linear square containing vine with five bunches of grapes; all within incuse square. SNG ANS 340. Noe, Mende 73.
Very rare variety. Struck on an irregular large flan and with a light iridescent tone,
traces of double striking on obverse and minor porosity, otherwise good very fine
