Greek Coins. Syracuse.
Tetradrachm circa 450-400, AR 17.48 g. Charioteer, holding kentron in r. hand and reins in both, driving slow quadriga r.; above, Nike flying r., crowning horses. In exergue, ketos r. Rev. ΣVRAKOΣI – ON Head of nymph Arethusa r., wearing hairband, earrings and necklace; around, four dolphins. SNG ANS 183. Boehringer 576.
Struck on very fresh metal and, as usual, on a short flan. Two minor
die breaks on reverse, otherwise about extremely fine
