Octavian as Augustus, 27 BC – 14 AD
Denarius, Pergamum circa 19-18 BC, AR 3.64 g. AVGVSTVS Bare head r. Rev. SIGNIS· / PARTHICIS / RECEPTIS. C 257. BMC 681. RIC 526. CBN 992 (this reverse die). Very rare and in exceptional condition for the issue. Struck on a very broad flan and with a superb iridescent tone. An unobtrusive edge test-cut at nine oclock on reverse, otherwise good extremely fine Ex Glendinings 2nd April 1952, Ryan part V, 1994; NAC 15, 1999, 255 and Aureo & Calicó 339, 2019, Alba Longa, 1277 sales.
