German (probably 19th century), Dialectic, bronze rectangular plaquette, after a mid-16th century South German model, Dialectic in the form of a woman reclining on the floor of a room, holding a set of scales, gesturing with her left hand, with scrolls and books at her feet; on the right, a reading desk; on the back wall, a window looking onto a view of a landscape, 84.6 x 131.7mm (cf.
