France, Henri IV, Marie de Medici and the Dauphin, 1603, bronze-gilt medal, by Guillaume Dupré, conjoined busts right, rev., Henri IV as Mars and Marie de Medici as Minerva, clasping hands over the Dauphin, 67.7mm (B.M.C. (Jones) II, 16; Ciech. 157), three large piercings with a smaller piercing on upper rim, several scratches on reverse, a very fine early cast From the collection of Paul Grinke. With old ticket giving provenance as A.H. Baldwin and the suggestion that the three large holes were made to fix it to the outside of a collector’s cabinet.
