Description

Charles I, Oxford mint, sixpence, 1643, struck from an Aberystwyth obverse die, m.m. book (on obverse only), obv., crowned bust left, plume before and mark of value behind, rev., Declaration in three lines, three Shrewsbury plumes above, date below, 2.92g (Morr. B-2; Brooker 953; N. 2459; S. 2981), with a significant metal flaw in obverse field before the King's bust, otherwise very fine and clear Provenance: Spink & Son, 28 May 1971.
