Charles I, Pontefract Besieged, octagonal shilling, 1648, obv., similar to the last but from a different die with larger C·R, rev., castle gateway and legend from the same die as the last but showing incipient die flaws, 5.05g / 77.9 gr. (Hird 273-4; Brooker 1231; N. 2646; S. 3148), good very fine Provenance: R. Carlyon-Britton (portions of collection purchased by B.A. Seaby, 1940-61); Seaby’s Coin and Medal Bulletin, October 1959, (SP10).
