Charles I, Salopia (Shrewsbury) mint, halfcrown, similar, m.m. lis, obv., horseman of finer workmanship, rev., crowned and garnished oval shield, 14.68g (Allen J-54, pl. III (this coin); cf. Brooker 1165-6; N. 2607; S. 3126), minor flan flaw, very fine or better, extremely rare Provenance: E.K. Burstal, Sotheby, 6 November 1912, lot 187; R. Cartwright (collection purchased by B.A. Seaby, 1935), Seaby’s Coin and Medal Bulletin, Fixed Price List 248, August 1935 (2636); V.J.E. Ryan, Glendining, 21 January 1952, lot 1323.
