Charles I, Exeter mint, crown, 1644, m.m. rose, obv., King riding left facing viewer, holding upright sword and wearing a sash with ends tied in a bow, rev., oval garnished arms, date above divided by mintmark, 29.77g (Besly C8; Brooker 1032; N. 2556; S. 3057), very fine to good very fine, with clear portrait Provenance: Capt. H.E.G. Paget, Glendining, 25 September 1946, lot 113; F.B. Nightingale, Glendining, 24 October 1951, lot 69; A.H. Baldwin & Sons (1963).
