‡ Sicily, Katana, drachm, c. 405 BC, unsigned, in the style of Euainetos, ΚΑΤΑΝΑΙΩ/Ν, fast quadriga right; above, Nike flying left to crown charioteer with wreath, rev., ΑΜΕΝΑΝΟΣ, head of river-god Amenanos left; crayfish and two fish around, 4.05g, die axis 6.00 (SNG ANS 1263, same obverse die; AMB 335, same obverse die; BMC 49), lightly toned, small flan crack, very fine, rare Provenance: Tradart, Geneva, 18 November 1993, lot 31 (colour enlargement p. 29); European Connoisseur collection (formed before 2002).
