‡ Italy, Bruttium, Kaulonia, stater, c. 500-480 BC, ΚΑΥΛΟ (retrograde), Apollo, naked, standing right with branch in right hand raised behind head; a small daimon running along his left, outstretched arm; in field right, stag standing right with reverted head on double line; all within cable and dotted border, rev., same type incuse but without daimon or ethnic, 7.36g, die axis 12.00 (Noe Group D, 51; Gorini 8; SNG Ashmolean 1434 var.; SNG Lockett 582 var.), toned and good very fine Provenance: Tradart, Geneva, 12 December 1991, lot 25; European Connoisseur collection (formed before 2002).
