A.J. Abel. D.H. R.N.R.); 1939-45 Star; Burma Star; War Medal, 1939-1945; Royal Naval Auxiliary Service Long Service, E.II.R. (A. J. Abel.); Group swing-mounted on board for display, toned, extremely fine (4) Deck Hand Arthur James Abel was born on 27 April 1900 at Framlingham, Suffolk, and enlisted for service with the R.N.R. on 13 May 1917. Serving aboard H.M. Ships Kingfisher, Victory, Island Prince and Pekin, he was demobilised on 6 January 1920. In WW2 he appears to have rejoined for further naval service, this time with the Royal Navy Auxiliary Service, and latterly lived in Great Yarmouth.
