A Great War 1914 Trio awarded to Private George Richard Woodage, 2nd Battalion the Queen’s Regiment, and apparently having received a gunshot wound to the head, later served in the Royal Defence Corps, comprising: 1914 Star (S-305 Pte G. R. Woodage. 2/The Queen’s R.); British War and Victory Medals, 1914-1920 (305 Pte. G. R. Woodage. The Queen’s R.); Group loose, extremely fine (3) Private George Richard Woodage (1878-1956) of 9 King Road, Lower Caversham, Reading, served in the Great War with the 2nd Battalion, The Queens Regiment, entering active service on the Western Front on 8 November 1914. Research suggests that he received a gunshot wound to the head (not currently confirmed), after which he was redeployed for a time to the Eastern Command Labour Centre in Thetford, and then to the Royal Defence Corps.
