Queen’s South Africa, 1899-1902, 3rd type reverse, no clasp (Carp. W. Pibworth, R.N. H.M.S. Sybille.), officially engraved, dark cabinet tone, extremely fine Shipwright Lieutenant William Pibworth was born on 9 July 1865 at Portsmouth, and previously worked as a Shipwright before geginning his naval service on 11 November 1890. He served aboard H.M.S. Sybille during the Boer war (with entitlement as above), and his medal was sent to him aboard H.M.S. Fox on 11 February 1902. He later served during the Somaliland 1902-04 Campaign (also aboard H.M.S. Fox) and during the Great War (entitled to a 1914-15 Trio), rising to the rank of Shipwright Lieutenant at the time of his retirement in February 1920.
