Theophilus (829-842), solidus, Constantinople, facing bust holding globus cruciger and cruciform sceptre, rev., patriarchal cross on three steps; 4.41g (DO 1; S. 1655), reverse faint scratch on left of cross, otherwise extremely fine Ex European Ambassador Collection, formed in the 1950s and 1960s.
