*Waterloo, 1815 (David Thompson, Gunner, 3rd Reg. Royal Artillery), with repaired steel clip and large split ring suspension, neatly engraved around the Prince Regent’s portrait ‘Who Died May 8th 1819 at Port Royal, JAMAICA Aged 26’, a couple of marks, nearly extremely fine. Although no Gunner of this name appears on the Waterloo Medal Roll, the impressed naming on the medal is absolutely correct and hence may represent a roll error or slightly later issue. Ex Glendining, December 1989, lot 15
