*Afghanistan, 1878-80, no clasp (Lt R. Story, 8th Ben: Cy), with reverse pin for wear upon ribbon, suspension post somewhat bent, otherwise almost extremely fine. Captain R. Story, of the King’s Royal Rifle Corps, is recorded in Shadbolt’s ‘The Afghan Campaigns of 1878-80’, as having served with the 8th Bengal Cavalry, as follows, ‘A troop of the regiment under Lieut. Story, took part in an expedition on the 11th Sept, 1880, against the Atchakzais’. It later confirms that ‘Lieut R. Story, King’s Royal Rifle Corps, served with the 8th Bengal Cavalry during the second campaign, taking part in both the expeditions against the Atchakzais. Was invalided to England from Sibi in Nov 1880.’ The Army List of January-March 1885, lists ‘Capt. R Story 15.03.84 retired pay. Militia 7th K.R.R.C. (Royal 2nd Middx Militia) based in Barnet’.
