Description

*Italy (16th or 17th century), Aemilia Lepida (wife of Galba, AD 68-9), lead medal on a square flan, head to right within LEPIDA GALBAE IMP VXOR, 61 x 62mm, very fine. Possibly inspired by the engraved portrait of Aemilia Lepida in the “Promptuarium Iconum Insigniorum” published in Paris in 1553. Provenance: Michael Hall collection, Baldwin’s, 28 September 2010, lot 2373.
