*British Empire Medal (Military), G.VI.R., first type, for Meritorious Service (Capt. George H. K. Reid), good very fine. Captain George H. K. Reid served in the Gordon Highlanders in the Great War. He was promoted to Lieutenant on 1 October 1915, to Captain (temp.) on 20 January 1917. He latterly served with the 5th Gordon Highlanders, and was seconded for service with the Labour Corps on the 21st December 1918. The nature of his B.E.M. award is not entirely clear, however an award is known to a George Halley Reid, Divisional Warden C.D. Service Southampton, in 1946. Ex Glendining, March 1968
