*Transport, 1899-1902, single clasp, S. Africa 1899-1902 (A. Carnochan.), lightly toned, extremely fine. Chief Officer A. Carnochan is confirmed on the Transport Medal Roll 1899-1902 as having served aboard the S.S. Orissa, part of the Pacific S. N. Company, with entitlement as above. Nine medals were awarded to recipients aboard this ship. Research shows that an Able Seaman called Andrew Carnochan served in the Royal Navy during the Great War, but whether or not this is the same man, a relation, or of no connection is unknown.
